Now this could be the hardest part of all. It is true that all children are special, but it is also true that one calls the spade a spade. This means that if your children cannot draw, there is no way that you can whip a Picasso out of them. But you must realize that your children could have other talents, and to find out what that is should be your main aim as responsible parent.

This last step provides you with all the tools that are required to find out what clicks with your children, and what does not. This implies that you have to put your children through a number of tests to see what they are good at. Offer them an opening line, and ask them to spin tales from it. Show them the pictures- any pictures, be it the image hanging on the wall, or the one printed on the postcard- and ask them what that colorful image reminds them of. Then tell them to tell a story as well. Ask them to make up a song or a small little skit on it too if they would like to.

Remember, the main trick here is always the same: positive conditioning. This means that every time they do the right thing, always reward them. Even if they are wrong, politely inform them so, and tell them what would be right thing to do instead. Never leave their questions unattended. This could indeed be a tedious affair, but it will certainly be worth it in increasing your children’s IQ!
