Cutting down on your child's salt intake can assist with both their mental development and their memory. Make sure the child is eating a maximum limit of one teaspoon of salt a day as that is all the average child needs.

Your child may complain that food tastes less favourable but you need to remember that a taste for salt is an acquired taste. It is something we are born with. If you want your children to do well it is probably a good idea to enjoy food that is not heavily salted from the time they are babies so that they do not develop a taste for it.
