Language Skills
Language indeed forms a very important part in the social world, where we all need to interact with others about our thoughts and desires. For children too, this becomes a very important necessity. That is why the earliest thing that all children do is learn to speak the few basic words that could help them in interacting with their parents about what they need. Children generally have a sharp IQ when it comes to language development. But this could be taken advantage of in the proper way so as to make a complete use of the situation. So what you can do in cases such as these is to see that your child receives the right form of education. Always speak loudly whenever you are with your children. This does not mean that you will have to talk about your "quickies" or things as personal as such in front of your children when you are with your husband. What it implies is that you keep your children’s vocabulary active. Always play fun games with them when you have time. When they are with you and someone else talks, always reframe the sentences for your children. Then again, simple word games will also come to your rescue in such cases. Moreover, you will also notice that children are pretty much capable of forming their own rules of grammar when they are learning new language. Instead of saying "held", a child could be found saying "helded". Here the child applies his own deductive knowledge that all verbs in the past tense use an ‘-ed’ at the end. However, there is really no need to change such harmless mistakes immediately. You might be a little or perhaps a lot uncomfortable in seeing them use such wrong words for a longer period of time, but you must leave it to them to realize. This habit will gradually wear off.
