Turning off the TV
They don't call television the idiot box for nothing. Although television can be a source of information and knowledge for your child it is a medium of distraction. Too much television watching can be confusing and destabilizing for your child as he or she struggles to make sense of being bombarded with too much information. Television gives your child a case of attention deficit. It reduces your child's very basic need to think in a linear and clear manner. Too much television watching can cause depression in young children. It is a bad idea to completely eliminate television from your children's lives as it is a learning tool of sorts but too much television is counter-productive to your goal of maximizing your child's ability to do well on an intelligence IQ test.
